Practice areas

What ManAT Legal advises on

The firm’s work is litigation, advisory and dispute resolution across ten practice areas. Four of them account for most of the firm’s instructions. The remaining six are handled by the same advocates and frequently arise alongside the first four.

Other matters the firm handles

These areas overlap with the four above more often than not. A commercial dispute may proceed in arbitration, a property matter may raise a consumer complaint, and an employment claim may follow a contractual one.

Civil Litigation

Civil suits, declarations, injunctions and execution proceedings before the City Civil Court and the High Court of Karnataka.

Employment & Labour Law

Employment contracts, terminations, unpaid wages and industrial disputes before Labour Courts and tribunals.

Consumer Disputes

Complaints before the District, State and National Consumer Commissions, including service deficiency and real-estate claims.

Arbitration & Dispute Resolution

Ad-hoc and institutional arbitration, mediation and pre-litigation strategy across commercial and construction disputes.

Insolvency & NCLT Matters

Insolvency litigation, company petitions and shareholder proceedings before the NCLT and NCLAT.

Recovery & Debt-Related Matters

Money recovery suits, debt claims and proceedings before the Debt Recovery Tribunal.

Working with the firm

How instructions usually begin

Most matters start with a consultation at which the facts are set out and the documents examined. What follows from that is a view on which forum applies, what the realistic options are, and what the matter will require of you.

Consultations are by prior appointment at either office. If a matter is urgent, say so when you make contact.

Common questions

The firm’s work is grouped into four principal practice areas, being property law, criminal law, divorce and family law, and corporate and commercial law, and six further areas covering civil litigation, employment and labour law, consumer disputes, arbitration and dispute resolution, insolvency and NCLT matters, and recovery and debt-related matters.

Frequently. A property dispute may raise criminal allegations, a matrimonial matter may involve property, and a commercial dispute may proceed in arbitration and in court at the same time. Matters of that kind are handled together rather than in separate silos.

That depends on the subject and the forum. Each practice page lists the advocates who work in that area, and the allocation is confirmed at the appointment stage.
